Unit Parole Review Questionnaire

Texas unit parole staff has begun offering seven topics to provide insight for parole voters when clients are in review for parole. I do think these questions make parole packet makers and attorneys using questionnaires almost pointless. But for those advocates seeing their clients in person that cover these things in their interviews, it adds additional resources to further develop our files. I do discuss these topics on the unit with each of my clients. As a parole attorney, it is my responsibility to discuss and understand these issues and the Parole Guidelines to develop a client’s most persuasive case for parole. I appreciate the efforts of Texas Parole in this direction. Everyone in parole representation should make things easy to understand and should work towards maximum transparency to the public. The Parole Board emphasizes there is no obligation to provide these answers. But I do believe, as your attorney, I can write and argue top quality information on these topics based on my 32 years of parole representation and my dedication to maximum communication with my clients. I go to my clients. I see my clients face to face. I ask them about these topics. I argue these topics and many others. This is what you pay for on the subject and I will show you hard work and real effort in this direction. The following are the seven topics:
1. Please describe any personal, social, or situational factors that may have contributed to your conviction or arrest, as well as the steps you have taken to address these factors.
2. Since your incarceration, what steps have you taken to improve yourself and prepare for a successful transition upon release?
3. If your record indicates a substance-related offense, please describe the support systems or recovery measures you have in place to maintain sobriety.
4. Please describe the factors that contributed to your success or failure during any previous periods of parole or probation supervision.
5. If released, please discuss your support environment. Include your plans for employment and financial support. Note any specific trade, educational background, or skills you possess.
6. Please provide your preferred residential address along with the name, relationship, phone number, and/or email address of contacts, listing as many as possible in order of preference. If you require housing accommodations, please specify.
7. Is there any additional information you would like the parole panel to consider? When comparing attorneys, talk to them about these topics. This is content. When making informed choices you need facts and the Parole Board is giving it to you right here.
